An Introduction + Two Documentary Shorts To Watch With Your People This Weekend
THE ROOKIE and A SWIM LESSON might restore your faith in humanity.
Hi, friends!
We’ve had a slew of new subscribers since kicking off season two of Fancy Meeting You Here. To everyone who’s new around these parts, welcome! It’s so nice of you to join us. Want to know more about what you’ve gotten yourself into? Check out this page. If you missed the first episode of season two, you can find it here in print or here in audio.
Episode two is headed your way next week! In the meantime, I’m sharing two new twenty-minute documentaries that will certainly make for fun family viewing and might even restore your faith in humanity.
The Rookie
Who knew a story about the Department of Justice’s Antitrust Division would be so entertaining and so timely? I produced The Rookie for W. Kamau Bell and The Washington Post and fell in love with this crew of antitrust nerds. You can watch it on The Washington Post’s YouTube channel.
A Swim Lesson
I don’t want to tell you too much about A Swim Lesson. Just watch it for free on The Los Angeles Times’ site and then tell me which of the kids you most identify with. The film was directed by Rashida Jones and Will McCormack and produced by Nicole Emanuele, Emily Arlook, and Megan Grossbard.

I could use a little faith - thanks, Kelly!
